Paul GarnierRestoration of strike work
New parts made Quarter and hour racks, flirt piece, gathering pallets x 3, repeat lever and fly lock, bell pump lever and associated parts, rack hook, added piece to gathering cock. Rectified unusual quarter surprise piece, stop work for the striking barrel, bell hammer return springs. Plugged holes previously made cut into the plate.
Cad drawings used to assist production of some parts
Using the same tooth pitch for both the hour and the quarters, in this case meant that the contact point for the quarter rack had to be closer to the fulcrum, because the steps on the quarter rack are shallow. Meaning the rack tail would not align with the centre of the snail as is commonly the case.
Blank racks in position to check tooth pitch against a scriber point (height gauge).
